I absolutely loved this post! I liked the one about randomly forgiving someone so you can obtain freedom. Sometimes you have to let go of bitterness so you can be free. I will heed this advice and message 2 people who have caused my great pain over the years so I can finally let go of the bitterness I have in my heart for them.
Yes, Tim, I agree. Instead of doing more of the same, it's better to learn from the previous iteration and do better the next time like you have suggested in another article.
“Unoptimized and imperfect is what’s truly sexy, because that’s real art. The way to avoid the trap of internet optimization is to have values you don’t compromise on.”
That’s exactly why I turn down some writing gigs and refuse to use marketing tactics I consider sleazy and manipulative no matter how effective they are. My values aren’t for sale and are more important to me than money is.
All ten have merit but I’m starting with #2 and #4.
I think #2 hit home the most because I have tried the optimization route for a long time.
What I realized when I read it is that it’s almost a digital reflection of “perfectionism“.
Somehow this has been a character flaw in me most of my life. While I have been aware of it for some time, this rule sort of triggered a shift in me about changing it.
In retrospect I can see it led me to stuck-in-the-mud mediocrity. You helped me to “see” how to take responsibility.
I like the way you think and I’ve decided to use this post as my “roadmap” for the next three months.
When you were a kid, you were happy if you got a present on your birthday or went to the beach or the zoo. Life was simple.
As a teenager, it was love and feelings, friends, and something interesting happened in your life.
It was not only about you anymore. Your partner was an essential part of your happiness.
When you get a kid, it shifts again. You love that kid more than yourself.
You can die for that kid.
Then, you have a near-death experience or a spiritual awakening, and you realize the world is much bigger than the five senses—way bigger—and the meaning of happiness shifts again.
Happiness and life formulas change depending on how you live and what you experience.
What happiness looks like depends on where in life you are and your journey.
What would your 90 year old self think and do? That’s good. When I feel over committed (or even when I don’t) before accepting invitations to things I pretend like the event is later in the day. Do I still want to go? And I make my decision based on that.
Hey Tim, loved the last law. Resonates a lot with me because I tend to avoid big decisions and procrastinate a lot. Time to change it and take responsibility.

Just tried this recently. Have you done it Kristen?
Yes!
Mate I go with 7 The Law of More...helps me do the shit I need to do when I don't want to do it. Cheers
Love to hear it Jim
As usual, there are many great points and it's difficult to choose a favourite.
But the law that resonated most with me is the 'law of more'.
It's heartening to note that the greatest in their fields put out a lot of works and only a handful became immortal.
I was beginning to worry about the amount of content I am generating and low traction that I am getting.
But after reading this law, I am motivated to keep going. Thanks for that.
Doing more is great as long as you iterate Abhilash. Agree?

Every Wall has a Gate!
Where is this quote from?
Most practical post and useful post I have read. Thanks for an interesting piece Tim
What did you find useful?
Focus on the opening & not the problem.
Would you agree there are openings everywhere online?
For sure. even for the smallest creators. Now with AI, anybody can get into their niches.
"You can see problems as opportunities or roadblocks."
I read "The Obstacle Is the Way" by Ryan Holiday last month. The title says it all. I recommend the book to everyone.
hah! love that book.
"What stands in the way, becomes the way."
Absolutely

wendi, am curious-what marketing tactics in your book would you consider "sleazy and manipulative"?

Insightful and compelling advice- thanks.
Law #4 Life Formulas
Let me ask a question.
What is happiness?
It's not an answer that's written in stone.

Jeez, Tim, that excerpt from Naval's book is amazing. One page, timeless wisdom.
more people need to read Naval's gold
