I read a lot of your posts, mostly on Medium, and have always found great value. You possess that rare combination of humor, humility, and wisdom. You continually inspire me to do the same. I wanted to give you a shout-out to say thank you. This particular post was a direct hit to my heart. There's a difference between appealing to one's intellect and having the ability to resonate with one's soul. I find you are the latter. At least for me.
I am brand new to sub-stack, thanks to your guidance and advice. Like Medium, I'm learning my way around here and I figure who better to follow and recommend than that cool dude from donw under.
First off let me start by saying I look forward to reading your articles every week. They are so refreshing and if you read between the lines you can take more from it than what is written initially. Thank you Tim !
"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts"
- At 25 years old I realized I didn't want to continue working all of my life just to keep buying things that would take away from my future. For some reason the younger me thought I was going to save my way to wealth. I had no idea what an investment account was or how a 401K worked. After making new friends during the pandemic I realized quickly that I was on a path to continue being in the rat race indefinitely. I had to make a change. Here we are 3 years later and all the money I've saved is still the same amount but, my investment account is 3x the initial value from where I started.
“Wealth is the slave of a wise man and the master of a fool”
Money becomes an obsession when you realize it buys you what you want. After awhile it does get boring to make all these purchases. I agree that I too have felt empty after obtaining something that I want or have been saving for. Time is greatest asset of all and without it you have nothing. It amazes me how you can be in this endless loop of debt and not realize how much interest your paying on a loan or that your spending more than your making just to have the latest and greatest. Shifting your mindset and taking control is the best thing you could ever do for yourself.

Thanks Tim-bo. See ya roudn the water cooler!
This feedback is so helpful to me Joseph. No one has ever said I resonate with their soul. This line was huge too:
"You possess that rare combination of humor, humility, and wisdom."
Thanks Tim. It’s a quote of your own that smacked me upside today:
“Stop trying to change minds and, instead, focus on finding the right people who want what you have.”
Sales taught me this Nancy.
Brilliant. Fresh, yet ancient thinking. I like how it is so applicable, thank you.
Always my goal Jon :)
Could not be said better Tim. I follow stoic wisdom myself. Applicable today, almost everywhere.
Good wisdom never dies Cornel.
This is an excellent, excellent article. It should be read twice. And then passed along.
Wow glad you think so Ray!
Unfiltered Tim Denning is my favorite version. :)
Haha cheers Kevin.
Amazing! Thank you for the upload Tim.
Any time Thiago.

So much wisdom here Samuel. Investment account over savings account always.
If only I knew this information at 15 but, i'm thankful for finding out at 23 its never to late.
Thanks Tim
Cheers Rodney.
Great list. I especially enjoyed #2 about randomness.
Thanks!
Just reposted a quote from #4 into Substack Notes. 💜
Love when people do this Heather. Thank you.
It was my pleasure to share what you wrote.
Thanks for this, Tim. Very giving.
