Tim, I'm always silent at meetings. I won't say they're a waste of time because my colleague take something out of them. But I hardly contribute. When it's my turn to talk about what I've been up to, I summarize my point within 15 seconds. My goal is to get it over with and not give others information they don't give a crap about. I'd love to ask everyone to speak less. I know it's not gonna happen haha :)

I've done that meeting trick so many times it isn't even funny. It really works, it's astonishing. Really interesting to read how it is part of a larger theory of communication.

Keanu is next level! Of the typical personalities we encounter in the realm of Hollywood, he stands out by being different, even opposite to what we expect. We can use these lessons in all aspects of our lives. Great article Tim!

(I waited a couple of minutes to write this.)

This piece was... golden.

Thanks for posting.

As a quiet person, I love this. I think, also, it is imperative that we quiet peeps don't mate with loud peeps. (Or maybe we do, they're pretty handy when stuck at a boring dinner party!) :-)

I love this ❤️ Thank you for making me love Keanu even more. And for summing up everything that I stand for as a person. Have you read the book Quiet by Susan Cain? It’s a manifesto for everything you’ve described here. Also, as a Time To Think coach, I couldn’t get away with not mentioning Nancy Kline’s brilliant book, Time To Think.

If you haven’t read these, please do. They shaped this chapter of my life.

There are people you want to be more like, then there's Keanu.

It takes some incredibly things in life to get to that depth.

Think more, say less, do a lot.

It's like everything we do has to have an angle or is intended to promote us as "good people".

He does it because it's the right thing to do.

Ever notice that everything you hear about him is from other people?

From all walks of life?

Even though we're all out here aspiring to make a difference with our voices, we could all take a page and actually DO things that don't need to be shared or have views or likes.

If you don't have things that you do that you simply do because they matter, then you're missing the point of being.

Thanks for this piece, Tim.

Yes, that's right. The real power is in Silence. People complained a lot about me, being so Silent and they can't hear my voice. That was printed in my head. But no matter how many times I try to be a Loud it's no use, cause it doesn't sound like me. The real me is always in silence , which gives me so much peace and clarity in my words. And I love the people who are more silent and knows the meaning of Silence. Thank you .

Smart advice. Very difficult to follow. :-) I remember when Keanu was on Stephen Colbert. I remember his answer to 'when we die'. It was impactful to hear it live.

Reminds of Michael Thompson and his idea of quietly standing out.

So many people don’t get this. Thank you! My maternal grandfather was like this. He enjoyed everyone else’s noise and bustle, and when he spoke, which wasn’t often or for long, it was always worth the listen.

I'd rather grow old than become an adult. All adults carry anger. Only children and the elderly laugh freely.
