#2 "Credentialism has led to people overloading their brains with more information, so they turn into adult babies who lack emotional intelligence and the ability to deal with failure or rejection."

I work with these babies daily. Spot on.

This point right here- "When you have clarity on what you love doing, the desire to delay it ... becomes a crazy idea"

Been there. Absolutely on target. Great piece!

The title of this article only is powerful. I think finding your way to any degree of independent success (success defined by your efforts and not that of a company that promotes you) will garner isolation. And I also think that we become disconnected from the plight of others who are not there yet. Doesn't make it better or worse, but it's a clear depiction of the difference in circumstance and decision-making from one person to another.

Thank you for sharing these words and saying this thing cuz DAMN, it's so hard to find like-minded people who can make decisions, and sift through the crowd. I hope Substack continues to be that place.

I’m not sure if I’ve necessarily gotten over my fears, but I’m definitely able to face them, learn what they have to teach me, and compassionately release them. I make—and enforce—the rules.

My two biggest takeaways from this piece:

1. Obsession X Daily habits X System = Success.

2. Most product are crap. It's an opportunity for us.

Tim, I love #1 and #4. For me, they boil down to the simple truth you have to outlast everyone. There's zero competition when your content reaches the high-quality mark.

Have you heard the 'loneliness pandemic' is really more of an 'aloneness pandemic' - lots more people live alone than ever before - but for the most part, they like it? Media twists things around. You may think it's lonely at the top, but it sounds like you don't mind being alone. You must enjoy your own company, which is a wonderful thing.

What sucks is being a high performer, getting one of those diseases that have foundations named for them, then having no choice but to slow down.

#4 resonates the most for me, although #2 is a close (and related) 2nd. Every action seems to be driven by function over form in business today. And hiring, promotions, etc. seem focused primarily on the achievement of degrees and the value of contracts/new work brought into the business rather than what is good for the individual, the company, or society.

I also love that you said to the guy that this might not be the community for him. So many people miss this point. It doesn’t make them (or you) bad or good. It’s just not a good fit.

The worst kind of loneliness is in a crowd full of people.
