Over the next few weeks, I plan to unsubscribe from a ton of garbage that lands into my inboxes daily and leave only 5 newsletters that I find inspiring and smart.
Yours will be among those 5. I believe that says it all.
Thank you
P.S. I have absolutely no idea how I came across your website, or how I subscribed, but I'm so glad I did.
Wow, what a great article and thanks for inspiring me to live more out of my comfort zone TODAY and take the paths less traveled. Have you ever seen Anthony Bourdain's rant about Yelp? If not, go find it on YouTube.
Bonus- You just picked my new Netflix work-out show for me. Thanks!!!
Tim, this article, like all of your articles, always wake me up and bop me over the head. I did fight the tears with this one. Thank you for sharing. Blessings always. I'm willing to look like an idiot - lol
I love this. I love Anthony Bourdain so much. Similar to you, I did a deep dive on Bourdain (a few years before he died) and cried the whole day he died. I felt like I had lost a close friend, even though I never met him. He has helped me in so many ways, and, despite his final act of selfishness, which was devastating to so many, Anthony taught me how to live without borders and to help others live unfettered by doing so unapologetically.
I've followed you for quite a while now, and really appreciate everything you do. Thanks for putting yourself out there every time. You are making a difference, Tim.
I stumbled across an article local to my state, written about a popular tourist spot that includes dining, shops, and a harbor with an aerial lift bridge allowing ships to pass daily...
The writers position was how this attraction hadn’t aged well. Nothing changes, parking sucks as do the food choices.
Yet, when I visit, it triggers emotions from childhood memories...I don’t care that it hasn’t changed. I don’t want it to change. When I’m there, I can recall everything down to the finest detail...
And what you shared in this article, really made me think about why I feel the way I do when I travel. Totally shifted my perspective on Anthony’s shows. I assumed his shows were only about travel and food...
Thanks for continuing to make a difference Tim. This article hit me at just the ‘right’ time. I too am a fan of Anthony Bourdain and I suspect that he lost from view the realization that what he did, just by being who he was as an imperfect, wonderful human being, made such a positive difference to the lives of many of us. His death reminded me so much of Robin Williams; another tortured soul who left life by choice. I’m struck by how it’s our imperfections that truly make us interesting and I’m very aware that the more I learn and grow, the more I’m aware of how much I don’t know and how much more I still have to grow!
LIFE is all about experiencing and moving forward with TIME. The situations keep changing dynamically and some times they are encouraging and certain times horrifying. During this journey we tend to meet several people with varied knowledge, experience and wisdom who influence us sometimes and who also get connected very closely at times. But, the essence of this entire journey would be to feel jubilant for the wonderful life you were presented by your parents and extend gratitude to people and appreciate places which gave you the positive vibes to move further and further. FEAR is DEATH and to face every situation is a blessing in disguise.

That's reaction I was hoping for Gilbert. My pleasure.

...talk about short sightedness.
Thanks for sharing Cole. Food creates memories. So does travel.

I miss Robin Williams too. His 2001 NY comedy routine is still one of the best ever.
