Great piece Tim thank you for writing it. I’ve always been skeptical of American hustle culture yet here - it is kind of built into our DNA from birth at least that’s how I feel about it. I choose however to not partake in it any longer and have found peace. Congratulations on your daughter, enjoy every precious moment because in the blink of an eye she will be a teenager! ❤️🙏😂
Nice... I haven't had a 9 to 5 job in my life. Freelancing has given me time to read one or two hundred books, live all over the world and take in several thousand hours of podcasts, educating myself. I have a question, related to writing. I've started my Substack and it's growing faster that I anticipated. I publish about 4 times a week. Do you find that growth is significantly faster if you publish daily? Would the extra work that entails be justified?
Great question and congrats on the growth. I find daily newsletters too much. I'd stick to weekly and increase the quality. Maybe add daily posting on twitter though to drive traffic to your Substack.
You’re so my kind of person. I’m going to be a pharmacist in two months but I don’t want to work as one. I want to freelance and continue reading books and listening to podcasts as much as possible. I also want to set up a business. That’s my dream. Thank you for sharing
Well, if you're going to be a pharmacist I'm assuming you'll earn a good income. You can save as much as possible then use that to launch a career in the vaunted field of doing whatever the hell you want. There are many places where you can live for a year on $15 or $20k, while you find a way to create a business. If you're really committed to it you'll find a way to make it work! And I post 3 or 4 book reviews on my Substack every month, if you're interested in that. Albeit they're mostly about economics/investing.
Tim. As an 'older person' having been through several ups and downs in life and business, I admire the fact that you are writing and have reached conclusions about life (and work) which I wish I had learned at an earlier age. I guess that's the same regret most of us have.
Don't worry I have no intention of stalking you or joining a Tim Denning cult! Mind you, some probably enjoy a good crucifiction or blood sacrifice!

My respect for family has kinda been dented by the fact that I got into debt because of family. I got a credit card because they said it would be good for credit score and some such. Plus, it didn't earn interest so long as you always paid. It was true. I didn't have to pay interest. Until my brother needed help... I did help, but it was beyond my financial capacity. He promised to pay me back, but he never did. So, that debt is still on my card and earning interest for the card company.
A brilliant piece, Tim and congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I’m freelance and wouldn’t go back to 9-5 working for the world.
Thank you Rosy. I feel you when it comes to 9-5 jobs.

Thanks for the congrats Lisa it means a lot to me.
Fantastic read! Congratulations on your daughter. Enjoy that time because in what seems like a year from now, she will be driving.
Lol that scares me Lisa. Maybe self-driving cars will make that a reality.

Ok, thanks for the advice Tim. I think I would burn out doing a daily newsletter. Good to know it's not necessary. Cheers

Hope the dream becomes a reality. Build a system to make it happen. Start it as a side hustle. One hour a day.

Great tips and thanks for helping a fellow reader.
As always, thank you for sharing your wisdom. I appreciate you
My pleasure Ebunilo.
You are my religion!
Wow that's a huge thing to live up to Chris!
You Nailed It!
Glad you think so Steve.
If only this was possible. You are lucky you can do this lifestyle. Would be impossible for many
How you think determines what is possible. More people will work this way now that remote work is the norm.

Cheers Chris. No need to do any of that haha
A wonderful piece, yet again. Thank you for your wisdom nuggets and congratulations on the birth of your daughter.
Much love James. I love my daughter so much.
My sentiments exactly.
Hell Yes Ms J!
