Chaos or not - for me every day starts with the Sunrise.

A few minutes of peace

A flood of gratitude

Before fools rush in

Sounds relaxing. Do you go for a walk at this time?

I feel like I woke up on the wrong side of the end today. So yes, this letter is mine. Thank you!

When in doubt, workout.

It's the little thing that always gets me headed in the right direction.

Thanks for asking Tim. Do you want the unfiltered version or the story that will generate a few likes and fizzle away? It's a bit of a story. Lemme know please, so I will know how to couch my response.

Well I’m the worst procrastinator I know so I’m looking at this carefully. Thankfully I’ve weaned myself off Shiny Object Syndrome and am now being very selective. I had a rubbish day yesterday but did one key task. It really has set me up for a great day today.

Days like you've described happen often with five people in the house plus two cats and dogs.

Poop, mice, dead birds, work and uni disasters. And I've had to remind them about turning off the gas ring twice this week!

I love the idea of getting sh*t done. I still have the feeling it's hard to post sh*t on X that has broad outreach (I know the problem is in my head). Because I've already started thanks to your 4/28 challenge, I'll just double down.

Why do you need "broad" outreach? Just curious.

As long as you're getting the right people. More people doesn't mean best people.

I like the one item list on difficult days. I've done that on my own with out realizing

Oh and chaos is life. Yep

Some nuggets, but….

"The solution is to expect chaos." (Joyce Meyer and I strongly disagree)

"Even better is to make love to chaos." (How so, Tim?)

"Get yourself into a daily state where you can pivot at a second’s notice." (True, requires leverage and systems.)

"Getting sh*t done is resisting temptation." (Truth, it's called self-discipline)

"You’ll probably never feel 100%. Just start. Enough with the excuses." (My absolute fav!!)

We have been trained to assign a value to everything - usually someone else's values though. As a former practicing lawyer I learned that unless you truly immerse yourselves in those chaotic experiences, you will become a recidivist - stuck! Taste the chaos. It's part of life's buffet. How do you know what you like until to you actually taste the f*#k out of it.

Loving all of this. I have something you said recently hanging just above my laptop, which relates to this post, "If I could accomplish one thing today, and it would be a win, what would it be?" That's been a game changer for me.

Love this! I dig the stoicism. I have my own stories of that, but I haven't "made it" yet so I'll share someone else's.

I took my first "proper" job in '95. The boss must've been in his thirties? Most people would say he'd succeeded already. I stayed with the company for 2-3 years but have had occasional contact with him since, and while he's never stated, and I've never asked, his financial worth, there's no doubt he's been hugely successful.

Here's a story he told us in the 90s. Before we met, when he was setting up the company and writing his first product, he was driven to get it done. But he still took holidays, and went on a skiing holiday, where he had a prang, and broke his fingers. As soon as he got back, and fixed up by the doctors, he got back to coding, even though typing hurt his still broken fingers.

When you say, “No excuses,” I think about April of this year: I was in the emergency room getting a CAT scan, X-rays, sonograms, blood tests, and the works... yet I had my laptop with me, and as I sat in my chair, I was cranking out articles for the Write 4/28 Challenge. I may have been late on a few of them, but I still got them done!

Your articles always inspire me.

The shiny object references and paring down the todo list is where I need to continue to focus. M

Thanks for a great read to start my day. 🦋
