Tim, I never knew how to start a business until I started writing online. No, until I met Ayo, then you. You guys showed me what it means to write online and think like a business owner. Thank you.
Great post Tim! Your writing always resonates the most with me. I decided to quit my job last month to start working for myself (still got another two months left in this job because of the notice period.....), but gives me time to start earning an income before leaving my other job.
I am currently going through Nicolas Cole's PGA, so main focus will be finding founders/CEOs in the health and wellness (mainly unprocessed foods) space and pitching them on an Educational Email Course!
I started PGA around 2 months ago, and now I'm working with two people! Didn't expect that already... Currently, I will do free work as I'm just starting off, then I hope to continue working with them once I deliver value, sell them on more services, and keep growing my network.
Need to get over the fear of posting on LinkedIn as well to build my audience!
Welcome to life on the outside! Taking a chance on yourself and your dreams/goals is powerful stuff. I left 2 years ago and have learned 10 years worth of stuff in that period, grown in ways I couldn’t have otherwise, met people I never would’ve, and the money’s coming :-)
Exactly! Having enough momentum allows you to gain confidence by taking action.
When momentum is combined with confidence, it creates a self-reinforcing feedback loop. The more confidence you have, the less resistance you encounter, making progress easier.
Thank you for your incredibly genuine encouragement.
You made my day, and your work is one of the reasons why, after years of self-doubt, I started publishing on Substack.
The power of owning your own business cannot be overstated. Looking back on a 30 year I.T. career, I can see how the option to work for my own business, either as side projects or full time contract work, let me pivot roles quickly as my interests changed.
My business saved me from wage enslavement, from working that boring job I couldn't quit, and I'm eternally grateful.
Truly an eye-opener for all those who are living a life of worse than a slave. They should take risks, if one is seriously want to live a life of freedom.

Means a lot Denis but it was all you. How's your business going so far?
Trying to get clients for coaching and planning to launch a paid newsletter.
Sometimes you just gotta go for it and see what happens.
More people need to hear this.
So positive and so true.
Having something of your own is more valuable than vast majority realise.
Why don't people build their own thing? Fear?
Fear, lack of curiosity, lazyness, narrow scope of thinking etc.. For various of reasons.

I know it's the best decision I'll ever make.
What are you building Stefano?
Hey Tim, I'm glad you asked.

Oh on the LinkedIn piece…I used to be scared of it, too. It gets easier for sure.

Saying no to a boss might cost you a job, but building a business lets you say no and grow.
Haver you quit your job as well Tomek?
Only few come out of the 9-5 rat race.
Loved this!
What holds us back from exiting?
that overthinking fear. need to work on this first, so do u suggest yoga?
You’re teaching me how obsession drives a business and makes you free of employers who don’t know best. It’s a freedom path. Thank you
It sure is. Will you start a business?
I already did. It’s a podcast business focused on sharing fiction stories, promoting lifestyles and cultures that way
Starting is the most challenging part, but progress is impossible without movement.
The most exciting thing about the future is that with every tomorrow, you get another chance to start again.
Once you get momentum you become unstoppable, right?

The first step is the hardest.
Why do we delay Ivan?
Fear! And we don’t understand the difference between inhibition and prohibition.
Great share Tim.. Thank you
Glad you think so. What was the highlight?
Awesome.

This article IS THE "slap in the face" that every employee, including me, needs to get.
Now I am really thinking hard upon what I should start with?
btw.... I wrote my 1st article on Substack today. Might be shit… But it's a start, right ?
Rhetorical. I need facts, philosophy, and structure. I feel baited. Is this what people call fluff?
I absolutely loveeee this article. I am stuck on niche or what to start the business on which is driving me crazy for months!! Any tips?
