I like the phone disability and the buying addiction.
One of my wins for the past 2 years or so, is that I limited my usage of social media quit significantly.
And that lead to me starting my writing journey this year.
But since I started my writing journey I started using my phone more. To check on my social media notifications. Writing online daily and so on.
I guess I will need to find a new balance.
I wonder if you have any advice on this as the successful writer with the many number of posts you write everyday. How do you balance between using your social media and leaving your phone?

I would love to stick a 🎀 on this and it send to every address with residents. (homes, business, colleges, social sites, etc) Awesome read Tim. I was reading a book this morning by Pastor David Jeremiah. One chapter was "Why call him Jesus" ? First it says Juliet ask Romeo that question. She went on to say a 🌹 by any other name would still smell just as sweet. (accuratete) It stated that a name is a name but the power of (results) the name is the true contents. (Jesus) So all this aligns to the power within your content. No waiting around. I chose to live before I die. Thanks for a road map.
Hey Tim, my bank account is usually in low-digit thousands because investing is a priority. A way to wealth isn't saving, it's making more money. Regarding growth, I hang out with a guy who has loaded up on real estate that his tenants are paying off for him. My friend hasn't seen a lecture room since 18, yet he makes more money than me (I have a Ph.D. in physics). Needless to say, I learn from him.
Denis the only thing I worry about with real estate is all that debt. In a downturn or a black swan, if you don't have enough liquid cash, and are forced to sell, you can get wiped out. Seen it happen way too many times.
You're right, Tim. This worst case scenario isn't impossible. Real estate, as any industry, tends to evolve in cycles. My finance teacher said they take about 20 years, so we may have to get cautious by 2028 (if no more big sh*t happens in the world until then).
Nah I mean real estate debt. May sound dumb but I like Bitcoin as a store of value. Gold can be alright too. It's more about being able to sleep at night than getting the biggest returns.
Great post! I work in a restaurant and I have noticed over the years that the gradual eradication of family dynamics is pretty evident.
Everyone's face is glued into their phones during dinner, and you if you look at their phones you will see exactly what you mention in this post. Parents trapped in a "parasite culture" and kids "worshipping the luxury life"...
Our phones have become digital pacifiers that we suck at the slightest sign of discomfort...ten seconds gone by in silence? Unbearable, grab the phone and scroll mindlessly!
We are heading into strange times, that is for sure, but riding ourselves of as many addictions as we can from the ones you mention above, it's a good start to healing ourselves.
Working on my obsessions at early time of the day / before the long work day starts
Connecting to people who want to grow rather than be stuck in their comfort zones
These are ideas I feel absolutely strongly about.
Life is happening right now, today.
But we are barely living.
We need to make time to be actually present in the moment ( I really get caught up with work and forget I am holding my breath for so long),
I have identified this and make a conscious effort to take many mini breaks in the stressful day and connect with my self.
Buying a digital camera is definitely on the list as I have noticed my thoughts are clearer, I have better focus and I write better when m away from my phone and not scrolling constantly..
Making a choice to start my day with me, my mission, when I am at my best energy early morning.
For connecting with like minded people, any suggestions Tim?
This is something I have not made progress with yet and would love some suggestions (ps I have started a thread on Substack but it's really new for now)
While moderation is generally advised, it’s essential to strike a balance in your approach to sugar intake. Being overly concerned can lead to unnecessary stress, but consistently consuming excessive sugar can have health implications. As for occasional cigarettes, I believe studies are based on 5 or more a day so is infrequent smoking really posing health risks, with that said it’s gross and I don’t like. I know the majority of studies highlight the dangers associated with tobacco use and they should. It’s crucial to prioritize overall well-being and laugh lots. And in the words of Ruthie my 101 year old mom…” Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone. “. Happy, healthy and prosperous holiday season and 2024 to you and your family
My mom is 101, does tons of crosswords and LOVEs sweets! She always has loved sweets! not a bad addiction in my humble opinion. She does not worry over things, she does/did for others often.
I was thinking it would to quit smoking or drinking, but your points were so unique and pretty relatable. Drowning in comfort -- this hit home. I have been pushing myself out of my comfort zone for many years now and have grown SO much. My confidence is high. I don't even think twice about taking that step out of my comfort zone anymore - I just do it. I rarely down in comfort, but on occasion I do. That art of doing nothing is necessary for me to reboot at times. Anyway - amazing read Tim!
Lots of good stuff here!

Basma, my rule is no social media apps on my phone. I can only use them on desktop which limits the usage.
Where have you started writing?
Thanks for sharing.
No probs. Any point stand out for you Chukwudi?
Relevant, practical advice.
Thanks for sharing.
Any time Raveen.
I've observed myself wanting to predict a risk free future. Only taking action when I'm 100% sure. But the world doesn't work that way.
We have to take both small and large risks.
Every moment is a risk worth taking.
Thanks for the article Tim
Even walking down the street is a risk. If you hate taking risks I'd recommend starting with small risks first Joseph.
I am currently taking small risks:
- I started a weekly newsletter
- I am working on my first course
I'm excited to be on this journey.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS 🎄
Love this line: "I chose to live before I die"
Happy Christmas to you too.
This is a great message. As entrepreneurs we should take risk and also open our mindset for growth.
100%

Hmmm...interesting Denis. I still can't stomach the debt though.
Tim, do you mean national US debt or the debt of the real-estate industry? What would you do to keep enough liquid cash if a black swan arrives?
Nah I mean real estate debt. May sound dumb but I like Bitcoin as a store of value. Gold can be alright too. It's more about being able to sleep at night than getting the biggest returns.
I agree - I'd never go for the "biggest" returns. That usually has a bad end.

hey! could you please explain what do you mean by "Join a digital religion like Bitcoin or Dogecoin"? Thanks!

Sue, there are always exceptions but sugar isn't good for you. I know a guy that smoked until he was 80. Doesn't mean smoking is okay.
Pretty amazing post here - wasn't what I was expecting!
That means a lot Melissa. What stood out in the post the most for you?
