There’s absolutely nothing like time freedom. I was fortunate to be the baby of six. By the time I came along my parents were in their forties. They raised me to control my income and that changed my life. I was taught that money was a seed to multiply, a tool to use to advance yourself and others through life.
I learned to dream big and be consistent in my journey through life. When people ask me what do I do, I say whatever I want. When I ask them why they work, they give me a puzzled look and say I’ve never had that thought before. Better thoughts better life.
I got out of rat race early and financially OK. Great for 5 mins but time is boring without purpose and activity so here I am - one of Tim and Todd's online writer students writing on Substack about my aging journey hoping to inspire others. But at the end of the day my time is my own. I say what. I say when. It feels awesome. #AgingwithAttitude
Good stuff Tim. So true on the VA front. I fought against it for years. Always wanted to control my work. But once I hired a VA to do this or that it not only saved time, but in most cases they did a way better job at those tasks than I ever could. Btw, your survey link it broken.
I've been saying this for a looong time - the most precious commodity is time, not money. Tim, I might steal your words and use it on my SM status - a wannabe 'time billionaire'
I love/live this post! Thank you, Tim, for all these words of wisdom on choosing how we want to spend time. On the stupid business front, my commercial bank and Amazon were the ones I dumped after COVID hit. Other businesses have free delivery. Shop on Etsy (& their stock has gone through the roof). Streaming shows? Support your PBS station and get access for donating. Books? Use your amazing local library (hello audiobooks!) or wob.com, betterworldbooks.com, abebooks.com. My new credit union account offers all the services I need for my family and small business (including line of credit and discounted payroll).
Two things: One, how do you just stop watching TV? (I prefer them over movies.) Second, how can you not have notifications? I am expected to have them on at work because they expect me to respond almost as soon as someone sends me a message. Or do you mean just the non-work kind?

Keep writing meaningful pieces Tim.
Thanks for sharing your story Ms J.

Such a good perspective Robyn and we're grateful to have you as one of our students.
Happy to say I've already deleted many of these things from my life and working in the rest! Keep writing. Your one of the few I actually read. ☀️
Appreciate it Heather

A VA will save my life. I need it bad.

The best email I read in a long time!
Glad you think so Sajida.
Great advice Tim. Keep it up!
Cheers Michael.
Maybe not entirely relevant to this article. I only watch KDrama (sometimes) for that reason. It's only one season long.
Can you link to it Zarine?

Really really great article Tim!
I loved the last part... not wasting time on certain things is not for you to just to consume more content... it’s about relaxing also.
Loved it.
Means a lot Victor. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips!
No probs Ivan
You made me happy by promoting spending some of the extra time in silence. Thanks, good list.
