I got on the psychology boat, specifically, following the multiple lockdowns. The more I delved in, the more I was able to peel some layers and find some internal peace.
Loved this writing and that line "Family is a glass vase that once broken can’t be repaired" brought me tears.
I'm reading your posts from a different angle now, Tim. For 2 years I've tried to write the way you do. No luck. Because I don't love blogging.
I LOVE writing novels. And I have the perfect insider. My editor at Harlequin. I'm writing a novel she's going to love and buy. Then more novels and more.
Everything you recommend applies to Linda George (aka Madeline George) the novelist.
Great revelation Linda. Just remember in the internet world the attention spam for books is going down. Good to have a short-form string to your bow, too.
Hi Tim! What makes your writing so compelling is how you use your sharp insights to carve off the fat of psychobabble and give us the best cuts to consume and digest. I’ve taught this stuff for a decade and tried figuring it out for years before, so I appreciate how you express it in such practical terms.
"Here’s the key: don’t use human psychology to exploit people, use it to help them." I trained sales people in the largest higher education institution in the world. The best focused on helping people, not on making the sale. It's a message to live your life by.....💚
Hey Tim--my original reply didn’t show up--so here’s a fresh take on your super power. A cartoon shows a person riding an elephant--the person is our rational mind, instinct is the elephant. Where do you go riding an elephant? Where ever it wants! Its your copywriting lesson --read the room/use psychology. Economics Nobel-prize winner, Danial Kahneman, wrote a book about his thesis called, Thinking Fast & Slow. Its powerful proof of how we make decisions triggered by emotional instincts and justified with rational arguments! You cut through the B*s, and give us the punchline w/ the payoff! That’s the heart 💜 of your power.
Another great read Tim. I'm inspired by your story with Richard Branson's right-hand man. Do you have any tips on how you can make that one great connection without annoying or bothering the other person? More importantly, how can you bring value to them so that they'd even consider helping you out?
Great post Tim, what you say about work and family is so true. We slave away in the name of success only to wake up to broken relationship and missed moment with your family.
Finding a way to execute your obsession and create the flexibily to actually have a life too is key to a happy sustainable life.
Time goes fast, and at the end of the day, without the people we love, life meaning and purpose fizzles away...
LOL: "I should talk less about writing". You ought to try going out for an evening with a friend who just got a job changing tractor tyres!
lololo
Good advice Tony. Tractors are kind of cool too.

Forgiveness seems to be the hardest of them all.
Lockdowns made many people do that Suchi. So good to see.

Thanks again!

I think category romance will live forever.
Absolutely will. Like cozy mysteries too.

I have no idea how I do this. Would love to know more about what you mean.
Great article Tim. Yes, my life experience and story is very similar so I can attest to what you say.
Michael
Thanks Michael.

So glad to hear this insight backed up with evidence Heather. Just help people.
Psychology plays a critical factor in everything. A lesser-known psychologist to add to the list is Edward Bernays.
I will look him up. Thanks.
Thanks for this :))
Any time Amy.
You've cut to the chase again. I can't recall anyone receiving posthumous praise for NOT doing what they're passionate about.
That's my goal Karen.
"Mooing my way to nowhere" is my new favorite phrase! Thanks for another useful and inspiring essay, Tim.
Haha glad you like it Diana.
Psychology. That's the missing part of my equation. Not for long.
Most people miss that one.
Solid my friend as usual
Cheers Lewin.
Onya Tim! Hope fatherhood is treating you nice. 😊
Loving every minute. We're up to the giggle stage. It's non-stop.
