Hack mindset is very harmful. Because it prevents us from facing the obstacles, fighting them and winning. Looking for hacks might work on short term but the best strategy is to embrace the suck. Don't shy away from it and know that the only way is through.
This has been true in my life as well. At peak frustration, I said fuck it and began writing. This may not seem like a huge leap, but as someone who’s never even been on social media, this was me getting WAY outside my comfort zone
1. "Most of us never learn the wisdom we need to move forward because we hoard advice and try to skip the struggle, according to Dan Koe."
2. "You don’t know what you don’t know. So get in the arena and find out."
3. "Write down what you’re willing to give up to get what you want."
By the way, l thought Dan Koe was a real name, until you revealed that it's actually a made-up name, in a past article. I really need to be far less gullible. 😄
this -"You don’t know what you don’t know. - is the one struck me too. Legendary Ray Dalio talks about this too and explains it beautifully. It is the real humbleness to say it, and have that mindset. I guess also the best way to learn faster and evolve.
As my scrappy little theatre company ramps up for its 2nd project I am grateful for YOU providing the slap upside the head to finally just leap off the high dive! Best of New Year's to all of us!
Happy New Year Tim - I’m looking forward to a great 2025 with lots of inspiration in your Badassery Academy with Todd and more Fearless Writer Challenges!
So good. So many mic drop moments in this - I really was struck with this particular part, “I asked everyone except myself whether it was a good idea.”. Seeking man’s approval can be a tremendous pitfall and blocker to our goals and dreams when we aren’t aligned with our identity and purpose.
If you plan your life from today to tomorrow to next year, chances are you will stay with what is comfortable.
If you plan your life from the perspective of your future deathbed (say at age 100) looking backward, chances are you will make different choices, as any short-term change pain pales in comparison to the deathbed regret (“I wish I had even tried…”).
Exactly what I wanted and needed to hear, Tim. What a great message, worthy of action and a f*ck it, I’m going to try anyway mindset as we step into 2025. Happy New Year. 🎊
Glad for your transformation, Tim. Happy New Year and keep inspiring your readers.
Same to you Denis. Can't wait to see what you write.
Action builds momentum, and momentum leads to clarity.
Clarity dismantles fear, and fear, when gone, lets greatness in.
Your post isn’t just a story—it’s a permission slip for every dreamer paralyzed by doubt.
The courage to say 'f*ck it' unlocks doors we thought were bolted shut.
This is the kind of wisdom that inspires.
Nothing better than momentum to finally get rela clarity. No only clarity it builds confidence too.

Work is everything Tim. Nothing new under the sun. The difference are the "perks".

Don't underestimate it. It is a huge leap. Big one and congrats!
Thank you :) I appreciate that!
sure!
Thank you very much, Tim.

I agree. There's a humility that comes with acknowledging that you don't know what you don't know, which opens you up to learning and evolving.

Thank you.
Thanks, and I wish you and your family a great 2025!
I've screwed up the last two years of my life and I'm going broke, so this is what I needed today. Thank you.
Love the honesty and humour. Hope your back injury has mended. All the best for 2025.

Great article, and so true.
